Going with the flow

So this week was supposed to be week one, and it was from a weight loss standpoint but my marathon training, well, that's going to have to start next week.  This week I have battling sinus issues.  I don't think it's an infection but there is definitely way too much sinus pressure going on in my head to try to run.  I did attempt to run on Monday and thought my head was going to explode from the pounding.  Sooo I walked instead!  Monday there will be no excuses!

On Monday I did however start my first monthly 3 day juice cleanse.  It went pretty well, the juices were really good.  The only hard part is my body was rejecting it.  Not sure if it was a side effect of the detoxing or that my body was fighting so hard to heal the sinus sickness and the low calorie juice fast wasn't enough but I got severe muscle weakness and cramping.  By day three I couldn't stomach the juices any longer so I quit a day early.  The produce did not go to waste though as I have been finishing the juices one at a time the rest of the week.

I did weigh myself on Monday and have a starting weight of 269.4 lbs which means on February 1 of next year my goal is to be no more the 169.4 lbs.  I planned on taking measurements of my body and a picture of myself in some form fitting clothes to show off my body shape at the beginning of this journey but it didn't happen.  I will however do that on Monday when I start my training.

This week I have learned how to set real goals and how to know when I am making excuses and sugar coating failures by changing the goals or when the goal can be more vague and my failures are more steps back to prepare for a leap forward.  I have decided that my goal is not necessarily to run the marathon next year but to finish the training from start to finish and to run at least the half marathon.  It's about not quitting on myself.  It's about getting healthier and quitting the rat race of yoyo weight loss and gain.  Not quitting when it gets hard that will be success.  Taking a bit longer to reach the ability to run a full marathon that's not a failure.  I won't let setbacks become failures because sometimes you need to go with the flow and take a step backwards I order to get a good platform for a leap!

Until next week keep taking steps!

Introducing Me

My name is Renee and I live in Austin, Tx.  I only moved here recently with my family after living most my life in Michigan.  I am married to a wonderful man who does his best to support our family. I have one daughter who is 11.  I have struggled with my weight ever since I hit puberty and as a young adult was diagnosed with P.C.O.S.  I am also a food addict.  Back in 2012 I underwent barriatric surgery and although I do not regret that decision I have not had the success I would have hoped for following that procedure.

Last spring my husband and I were elated to find out we were finally after 5 years of marriage expecting our first child together.  Our elation was cut short when only weeks later we lost that pregnancy.  I have had a very hard time coping with this loss and coming up on February 1 would have been my due date.  I have decided that enough is enough and to honor my angel baby I am going to transform myself into the best version of myself.  I also happen to be turning 36 just days prior to that impending due date so I am going to make my 36th year of life one full of hard work and dedication.

My new hometown of Austin, Tx happens to host an annual marathon around Valentine's Day so I thought if I am going to do something big it might as well be completely insane as well, lol, so I'm going to transform my body by training to run that marathon.  I found a training schedule online for a couch to marathon in 52 weeks and will be doing that starting on Feb 1.  If you would like to join me or follow along you can find the plan at https://www.digitalrunning.com/couch-to-marathon-training-plan/.  I will also be cleaning up my eating by cutting out all added sugars and artificial sweeteners and simple carbs.  There may be further restrictions in my diet as I discover exactly what foods trigger me to want to binge eat (food addict remember) which I will tell you about on here.  I am also planning to Juice fast the first three days out of every month.  I will chronicle all of these things in the coming weeks and months.

I may also be sampling some health and wellness products along the way to give me some assistance as well and will be telling you all about them in this blog.  I will be including monthly weigh-ins with photo updates of my weight progress.  I have a weight loss goal of 100 lbs.  I will also include pictures of food and recipes and some action pics along the way of either my training sessions or of different races I will participate in as I go along this journey.

I hope that you will follow along with me on here.  I welcome all the encouragement and well wishes.  I even welcome fellow participants along the way.  I am determined to follow through with this plan and with God along for the ride I know I can do it.  I hope you enjoy my blog and my journey this year as I turn from a Fat 36 year old to a fit 37 year old running a marathon.
